One night, when the woodcutter was out of town, Hansel heard his stepmother and another woman speaking in hushed voices about the dangers of Ogre Forest.

—Prologue, Hansel and Gretel

Ogre Forest is the location visited in Hansel and Gretel, a bonus game in the Dark Parables universe. It is part of what's referred to as the Forest Kingdom and gets its name from the fact that it is inhabited by ogres.

History Edit

Ogre Forest is in the Forest Kingdom, a land once protected and ruled by the Moon Goddess. Long ago, however, the Moon Goddess was usurped by the Evil Witch. Since then, Ogre Forest has been overrun with monsters and all manner of bad creatures.

The forest has a bad reputation amongst people in the nearby villages. It is for this reason that Hansel and Gretel's stepmother leads them deep into the woods and abandons them there. She is hoping that the children will fall prey to the ogres in the forest, apparently unaware that the ogres there don't eat children.

Once Hansel defeats the Evil Witch and frees the Moon Goddess, the forest can once again return to a happy, peaceful place where creatures of all kinds can co-exist in harmony.
